Somehow in the ether you landed on this page, and I welcome you. I’m Jo Ellen Washburn, an American finding myself with the incredible opportunity to live in Korea for a few years. I’ve traveled the US and a few other countries, have lived in several states, but never imagined actually living in another country – especially one with a completely different alphabet let alone language. I hope to share my journey with you, including joys, frustrations, humor, sadness – the realm of the human experience – somewhat unedited. Thank you for joining me on the journey.
A little bit about me: I grew up in Illinois, attended the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!), worked as a marketer for Engineers (yawn) for several years, went back to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (Go Roos!) for post-graduate work, worked as a counselor in chemical dependency and then in managed care for many years, and now am “retired” and living off the sweat of my husband in Sacheon, Korea. My husband, Chris, has two sons (Alex and Ryan) in college state-side, and we share two pups (Molly and Sophie).
